Mad Men knows it!

Don Draper all we want to do is please you

I don't know what it is about mad men that sucks you in but don draper is certaintly a plus! Here are some of my fav quotes!

"you want some respect? Go out there and get it yourself"
"if you don't like what's being said, change the conversation"
"since when is foregiveness a better quality than loyalty?"

I think they are onto something! Since when does someone else's actions define our reactions to life we need to make sure we surround ourselves with love, laughter, friends, family whatever makes you smile in your memories in those moments in your life.

Treasure each moment, learn from mistakes and never stop growing life won't stop for you it stops for no one!

Beauty is Pain...

Wow! I just woke up and my body feels like its 80!!

I had the biggest weekend at work I swear everyone goes crazy for massages on a rainy day especially in hotels, I couldn't help myself but feel a little jealous! I think I have formed RSI or arthritis in my hands! One of my treatments was five hours! Her lovely partner bought it for her birthday. I have now dedicated the next 6months to showering my husband with love and affection after all christmas is coming up... Haha!

I always appreciate my job when the client comes out with the biggest smile and thanks you it just makes me realize the reasons I love my job.

-Giving someone a little time for peace and relaxation creating them a new lease on life.
-Giving them beauty advice to help curb those insecurities.
-To help relieve all those hard to reach muscle aches.
-Getting rid of those horrible knots!
-Just to make someone happy and smile is the simplest but greatest gift!

When I set out to do my career in Beauty Therapy I was pretty nieve and thought it would be easy to get into after all what 16 year old doesn't think they can make their dreams come true I was full of inspiration and passion!

It all came crashing down after 6months into my first ever beauty job in a little salon The Recession hit. I had just moved out with Dave and a couple of friends I was determined to be an adult!

I ended up working at McDonalds my whole life I always said eww I will never work with food! but I sucked up my pride and worked my way up from a crew person to crew chief and then I landed management I spent the next 3 years becoming the person Dave & my Family could be proud of it was the hardest I had ever worked to achieve in my life!! after nearly 4 years at McDonalds I decided it was time to accomplish my dream job!

I applied at Royal Pines for the reception job and they offered me a second opportunity to become the Beauty Therapist I always wanted to be. I was so lucky to get some re training and ongoing coaching to help me accomplish what felt like a lifetime ago my dream job that I had started 5 years previous.

I am now 6months into my job and every client I have I am secretly thanking them for giving me the chance to make there day, to put a smile on their face, to just be able to do what I love!

So Thankyou Clients and Future Clients no matter how much I complain how sore I am or whinge I have the best job and I can't wait to see what the future holds for my career but for now making you smile is the biggest accomplishment to me!

Here are some photos from Beauty School and Beauty Graduation :)

Home Inspiration

I can't stop looking at dream rooms, houses, decor! Ive always grown up with my parents renovating and moving onto the next house so there was no use denying my passion for interiors! Dave hates it already haha I get so bored and always want to change my furniture around but I think one thing I am good at its getting a bargain! I'm one of those people who walk up to the counter to pay and alas 50% off it drives my mum insane haha!

Cooking like Mum

I've been missing my mum & dad lately as they have moved states :( so I decided today I would make one of mums special dishes like she always made us. My Family just has one problem Lebanese food or whatever Nan has been cooking since she was my age never has a recipe ha ha so I phoned Mum and well I managed to get it down to a recipe so here is goes Celery & Rice yep I know what you must think how boring! but oh god the lamb is just so tender and the lemon with celery is fab! Try it even if you just make it once so worth it!! (you can thank me later!)

Celery & Rice
Serves 4

1 brown onion
1 bunch of celery
500g heart smart diced lamb or lamb steaks
1-2 lemons

  1. Dice whole onion finely, cut lamb into smaller pieces and fry until all the juices have dissolved and the meat has been sealed.
  2. Cover meat in saucepan with water till it is just covered (don't add to much water as the celery has water in it also) add a pinch of salt and cook for 1 hour on low to medium heat with lid on.
  3. Dice up celery and add to meat once it has been an hour and cook until celery is soft (approximately 30minutes)
  4. Serve with rice and fresh lemon to drizzle over

Condensed milk choc chip biscuits

Today I made my favourite cookies in the whole wide world! they are by Janelle Bloom and are in her cookbook Fast Fresh & Fabulous. They make 40 so they last all week (well half the week with Dave in the house!!) If you ever get a spare day make sure you try them my friends always scoff them down when they come over!

Condensed milk choc chip biscuits
Makes 40

250g butter, softened, chopped
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 x 395g can sweetened condensed milk
2 1/2 cups plain flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
375g choc bits or chopped milk chocolate (I've tried white choc chips too!)

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius no fan 170 degrees Celsius fan-forced. line four baking trays with baking paper (hint: I use a macaroon tray and they always come out perfect circles!)
  2. Using electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and condensed milk until pale and creamy. Sift flour and baking powder together over the butter mixture and mix until the dough almost comes together. Add chocolate and stir until well distributed.
  3. Roll heaped tablespoons of mixture into balls and place onto baking trays, allowing a little room for spreading. Flatten slightly with fingertips or a fork.
  4. Bake two trays at a time for 9-12 minutes until light golden. Stand for 5 minutes on trays before transferring biscuits to a wire rack to cool.
